What
Color
Should
My Shoes
Be?
It's important to pay attention
to the
details
for
a truly
finished
look
on your
Prom
day!
And
shoes
are
part
of that
finished
look.
The best rule is that your shoes should match your hemline.
If you take
that to extremes, an all-white dress with a red hemline border would require red
shoes to match.
There are some variations of this, of course. For
example, if you are wearing a red dress with all black accessories for emphasis,
you'd want your shoes to match your accessories. There are times when breaking
the rule like this is a fashion statement.
If you have a print, you could
go with any major color in the pattern - but we recommend that you do select a
color that shows up near the bottom of the dress.
Your accessories should
all work together - earrings, necklace, gloves (if you're wearing them), evening
bag and shoes.
One thing to really avoid is all white or all ivory shoes
if the hemline - or at least the major part of the skirt of your gown - isn't
white or ivory. Sure, it's easy to find them but that's a fashion faux pas that
we all need to avoid. Otherwise, you risk looking like a rookie on the glam
stage.
Dyeable shoes are a terrific choice! Silver, gold, black or clear
shoes are great options, depending on your gown. Again, they should coordinate
with your other accessories. Are you wearing stunning rhinestone drop earrings
set in silver tone? If so, you may want to opt for silver shoes . . . or gold,
whichever you're wearing.
Some fantastic modern shoes come with ribbons
to lace up that can be selected in just the right color for your dress - or
combine them to make a really personal statement! (www.perfectpageant.com will
be showing these in the very near future).
